Turbine as high as Lincoln Cathedral plan for Barrow

Plans have been submitted for a wind turbine and associated infrastructure at a farm near Barrow-Upon-Humber.

Developer EDP wants to site the structure, which will have a maximum height to its blade tip of 78 metres, on land to the north of Caistor Road.

A planning statement submitted as part of a planning application to North Lincolnshire Council said: “The development will be achieved by the land owner leasing a small area of its operational site to EDP who, in turn, will fund the erection and maintenance of a wind turbine.

“In addition, the landowner will receive a proportion of the Feed-in-Tariff which will be payable to EDP upon provision of electricity to the national electricity grid.

“This commercial arrangement will assist the landowner in meeting the cost of rising energy bills associated with the operation of their farming business, through the provision of an additional income revenue stream.”

The statement says a 21-day consultation period was undertaken by the developer from June 11 to July 4, with letters sent to 1,500 residents within a 2km radius of the site.

The developer says four objections were received, along with two letters of support.

A decision will be made by North Lincolnshire Council.
