Trust opposes Delph turbines

Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust says nine wind turbines proposed for land at West Pinchbeck would result in birds being displaced from two of its nature reserves.

The trust runs Willow Tree Fen and Pinchbeck Fen Slipe nature reserves on either side of the proposed Delph wind farm.

A new letter to the district council from trust conservation officer Elizabeth Biott renews the trust’s previous objection and highlights inadequacies in bird survey data collected by the energy company – including a total failure to mention the Pinchbeck Fen Slipe nature reserve where birds would suffer “significant disturbance”.

The comments add weight to a report by ecology expert Dr Tim Reed who found “major flaws” in the way wildlife data was collected by the energy company seeking to put the 126m tip-height turbines on Fen Farm, South Fen.

Stop West Pinchbeck Wind Farm chairman Tony Fear said: “We are delighted with Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust’s robust stance on the inadequacies of the survey work and their explanation of the dangers of using limited data to assess bird displacement.

“In view of these very strong objections over ecology it is very difficult to see how this planning application can be approved.”
