Wind farm plan for Tallentire

Plans have been revealed for a wind farm at Tallentire.

Renewable Energy Systems Ltd want to build the turbines on land between Gilcrux and Tallentire and it hopes to lodge a planning application with Allerdale council in the next few weeks.

A public exhibition will be held as part of a public consultation that has included leaflets been sent to homes and businesses in the area.

Tom Fewster, project manager with Renewable Energy Systems Ltd, said: “There is often a lot of misinformation circulated about wind turbines and it can be an emotive issue.

“We firmly believe that this is an excellent location for harnessing the natural and abundant power of the wind without causing any adverse impacts on the surrounding environment or local residents.

“We believe this wind farm will be an asset to Tallentire, Gilcrux and the surrounding area, providing clean, green electricity to homes and businesses and helping the community to do more to combat greenhouse gas emissions and the threat of climate change.

“We expect the project to bring local economical benefits and contribute to a new, sustainable industry for the UK.”

The public exhibition takes place at Gilcrux Village Hall on Thursday September 6 from 3pm to 8pm.
