Opposition is building to two energy projects slated for federal land in the High Desert that protesters say would erect 71 500-foot-tall wind turbines that would be visible to homeowners in Lake Arrowhead and surrounding communities and could damage their property values.

The Alliance for Desert Preservation is circulating petitions from residents in the desert and the San Bernardino Mountains, and claim in a press release issued Monday they have collected more than 8,000 signatures opposing the North Peak Wind and Coolwater-Lugo transmission projects.
