Final approval has been given to plans for a wind turbine opposite the Laugharne Boathouse of poet Dylan Thomas.
Carmarthenshire council’s planning committee ratified the decision to allow the scheme at Mwche Farm, in Llansteffan, contrary to advice.
Councillors said the turbine would not have an unacceptable impact on the area.
The Welsh government confirmed it would not review the decision.
Earlier this week the poet’s granddaughter Hannah Ellis criticised the decision as “completely absurd”.
Ms Ellis had written to the Welsh government along with a number of residents urging ministers to call-in the decision for consideration.
Opponents claimed the turbine would blight the view from the Boathouse.
The 45m (147ft) high turbine was initially granted permission by the planning committee on 3 June, against the advice of planning officers concerned at the potential impact on the local landscape.
But committee members said the supposed effect on the surrounding landscape had not been proved.
