CORPUS CHRISTI – Despite an effort by a wind farm developer to come to a compromise with the City over several concerns, the City is moving ahead with plans to annex some of the property where a new wind farm project is planned.
Council members discussed the annexation Tuesday in executive session, one day after Apex Clean Energy, based in Virginia, sent an email promising to scale back the development to satisfy city concerns.
Assistant City Manager Wes Pierson said the Council is satisfied with the decision to continue.
“There are some details that we need to sort out and get some answers for. We’re doing some due diligence,” Pierson said. “I think annexation is one of the tools that we have in our toolbox to make sure that our community grows the right way.”
Pierson said there could be a public hearing on annexation by the end of summer.
