Greens senator asks to increase distance between wind turbines and homes

Credit:  published in the JO Sénat, 1 May, 2014, page 1005, senat.fr ~~

Ms. Hélène Lipietz asks the Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development, and Energy about increasing the distance between the site of a large wind turbine to more than 500 meters from a home or future home, maintaining a distance of about 400 meters between each turbine, and encouraging individual use of micro-turbines.

The reason she asks are diverse, involving the lack of rigorous independent studies on the impact of large wind turbines on the health of neighbors, for example, by stress from noise, sleep disturbance, stroboscopic effect potentially triggering epileptic seizures.

She asks her to study increasing the circle of exclusion of these wind-scrapers near dwelling places until such studies are conducted, as well as strengthening citizen consultation and the possibility of supporting the development of micro-wind.

Awaiting the reply of the Minister of Ecology, Sustainable Development, and Energy.

Written question no. 11440, from Hélène Lipietz (Seine-et-Marne – Ecolo): “Distances between wind turbine sites and homes”
