Turbines fear for Shrewsbury kennel bosses

They’ve spent the past 15 years caring for rescued greyhounds at their countryside retreat. But now Mal and Sue Tipton fear they will be forced to close their kennels for good if two wind turbines are built nearby.

Mr and Mrs Tipton believe the noise created by the 35ft (10 metre) turbines will cause great distress to the dogs and put people off attending fundraising shows held throughout the year. They have launched a petition to fight the plans for the turbines, which have been earmarked for land close to their Moorlands Kennels and Cattery in Condover, near Shrewsbury.

Mr Tipton said: “As we are part rescue centre, some of the animals have issues already and can be very nervous.

“The kennels was meant to be a nice quiet place for them to come and recover.”

The issue was raised at this week’s meeting of Condover Parish Council. Public consultation will end on February 14 and it is hoped Shropshire Council will make a decision on the turbines application by March 21.
