Wind farm plan for north Bucks submitted to council

Proposals for a windfarm in north Bucks capable of powering 5,350 homes have been submitted to planners.
The four-turbine Salden Wind Farm would be located on farmland to the north of Drayton Parslow and south west of Newton Longville and run by Bucks Wind Energy Ltd, a subsidiary of family-run renewable energy developer West Coast Energy Ltd.
Each turbine will be up to 115 metres high and have a generating capacity of up to 2.5 megawatts (MW), giving the wind farm an overall installed capacity of up to 10MW.
The wind farm is projected to generate enough renewable electricity to meet the annual domestic electricity consumption equivalent to around 5,350 homes.
A campaign to fight the turbines is being led by the Stop Salden Turbines committee, formed by local residents, with local MP John Bercow as president.
However, the firm said a ‘successful’ public exhibition was held in October at Greenacre Hall, Drayton Parslow, where residents were invited to examine details of the proposal and ask questions of representatives of West Coast Energy.
West Coast Energy says more than £1.3 million will be raised for local causes from a community investment over the 25 year life of the wind farm.

We look forward to a continued engagement with the community as the application progresses through the planning system.”
