Construction roads to be built for Enbridge

Six sites in Enbridge’s 110-wind turbine project have received zoning approval and are a step away from construction, with another 14 site plans approved on July 11.
Enbridge Ontario Wind Power general manager, Bob Simpson, said they’re hoping to start building the construction roads at the approved turbine sites within the next week.
Simpson expects more of the turbines will surface at upcoming council meetings, requesting additional site plan approvals for each individual site.
“The process still needs to happen,” he said.
Building permits are required for the six approved sites prior to turbine construction, but Simpson added that no turbines will be erected in 2007.
The location of the substation on Bruce Twp. Lot 9, Con. 7, was also amended, as Simpson said a greater separation distance was needed from the Hydro One transmission line corridor. Construction could begin on it after the 20-day hold expires.
The lengthy reading of the 14 site plan agreements, ended up with Deputy Mayor Laura Haight asking if the sites could be condensed into one bylaw.
Chief Building Official Michelle Barr said each was done separately, as a way to ease record keeping.
“The way the project came forward, staff decided to do each one individually,” Barr said.
All ministries and agencies were satisfied with the turbine site plans and gave their approval.
Councillors Randy Roppel, Guy Anderson and Marsha Leggett voted against the motion. Councillor Ken Craig sat out, as he had a conflict due to personal developments.
