Falmouth health board delays wind turbine discussion

FALMOUTH – The Falmouth Board of Health postponed its discussion of sleep factors – a talk stemming from the ongoing debate on the town’s wind turbines – for two weeks Monday after one of its members, Stephen Rafferty, was unexpectedly unable to attend the meeting.
The Board of Health has re-entered the turbine debate after the Board of Selectmen voted to run the turbines for 16 hours a day, up from their previous 12-hour operation. That leaves 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. as the only off time for the devices, which have been the subject of health-related complaints from neighbors virtually since their installation. Opponents say that’s not enough time to guarantee a restful night’s sleep, especially for children, which makes the turbines’ operation a public health matter.
The Board of Health will next meet at 7 p.m. Nov. 4 at Falmouth Town Hall, 59 Town Hall Square.
