Anti-wind-farm group ThWART has promised it will fight Your Energy’s plan to build a scaled-down wind farm at Wellow.
The energy company, which earlier in the year announced it was not lodging an appeal against council refusal of a six-turbine farm on fields at Wellow, confirmed this week it was still considering a smaller-scale scheme, for three or possibly four 100-metre-plus turbines.
Your Energy managing director Richard Mardon said this time the company would be seeking to collaborate with the council.
He said: “It remains that the site at Wellow is a good one for producing electricity from the wind and we haven’t closed the door on a smaller scheme.
“A proposal with fewer turbines would still produce a viable amount of electricity for the Island due to high wind speeds at the site.”
But ThWART spokesman Ray Tucker said: “We will be watching it closely and we will renew opposition if they do come forward with a new plan for Wellow. It is the wrong site.”
