Village defies wind farm

An application for the erection of four 410ft wind turbines on Corrwg Fechan Mountain has been received by the Planning Department of Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council.

Corrwg Fechan is in the heart of the village of Glyncorrwg, where there is great opposition to these highly visible monstrosities being sited.

As Chairman of the Glyncorrwg Action Group, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the very many residents of the village who have written to the planning department objecting to this outrageous proposition.

Our group not only has the support of the local residents, but also of many ex-pats who are and have been associated with Glyncorrwg.

These people also object to the proposals, and have written to the authority from as far afield as Canada and Australia.

Our local politicians Dr Hywel Francis MP and Dr Brian Gibbons AM have also supported our objections to the wind farm being built in the midst of our village.

We have received letters of support from two members of the House of Lords.

I have recently written to HRH the Prince of Wales and informed him of these developers gathering like vultures to prey on our little community.

If these turbines get off the ground, there is no doubt house prices will fall.

Our otherwise picturesque skyline will alter dramatically and much of our rare wildlife will suffer from the construction of the “bird mincers”.

Companies like ECO2, Gamesa and Airtricity should beware – we are not going to take these constructions into our lives lightly. We will use every means at our disposal to thwart your plans.

Democracy is the biggest weapon in our arsenal. We’ve some honesty, loyalty and justice too – oh yes, and plenty of common sense.
