Plans for a wind farm at Hirwaun could transform the landscape of northern Cynon Valley.
A planning application has been submitted to Rhondda Cynon Taf Council to create the valley’s first wind farm, south of the A465 on 770 hectares of land known as Mynydd Bwllfa and Mynydd Cefn-y-Gyngon.
The company behind the development is Pennant Walters Ltd – a Wales-based wind energy development firm which is part of the Hirwaun-based Walters Group Ltd.
The application is for 12 wind turbines, together with ancillary infrastructure.
An environmental statement has been prepared by Bristol-based environmental consultants Entec UK Ltd in support of the application.
Copies of the planning application, the plans and environmental statement can be viewed at Hirwaun Library, Monday-Friday from 9am until 5pm.
Anyone who wishes to put forward views on the application should write to the Service Director of Development Control, Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, Sardis House, Sardis Road, Pontypridd CF37 1DU.
A spokesman for Rhondda Cynon Taf Council said no date had been set for the planning application to be considered.
The land in question is owned by local farmers.
