Development extension for Vincent North Wind Farm

As Pacific Hydro considers its options in regard to the development of the Vincent North Wind Farm, District Council of Yorke Peninsula has granted the company a further two-year extension to the development authorisation originally approved in October 2003.
Currently, the 132kV line serving Yorke Peninsula is at capacity and, until the capacity constraints are resolved and the electricity transmission infrastructure upgraded, this project and others like it are likely to remain on hold.
“While Pacific Hydro remains committed to the project, currently the company’s resources are focused on their Clements Gap Wind Farm, with construction to begin shortly,” Communications Manager Emily Wood said.
Clements Gap will be the first wind farm to begin construction as a result of the Federal Government’s commitment to increase the Mandatory Renewable Energy Target (MRET) in Australia by 20% by 2020, and will be Pacific Hydro’s first wind farm in South Australia.
Located in the Barunga Ranges, Clements Gap wind farm will have 27 turbines; while the generators will be supplied by Indian company Suzlon Energy, all other components have been sourced from South Australian suppliers.
“We are excited about this project, which has had strong support from the local community,” Ms Wood said.
