Not as green as they are made out to be

Green Caradon Against Turbines would wholly endorse the comments of David Stow about the lack of a cohesive policy about the place of on-shore wind turbines in the development of renewable energy. As he points out, these industrial developments are being dealt with on an ad hoc basis by individual councils, on narrow planning guidelines. Certainly from the Green CATs perspective individuals and communities are being put in the position of having to fight these proposals because of a vacuum of leadership at county and national level. We are all at risk. Who will answer the questions of future generations as to why we allowed these blots on our landscapes?
The further point David makes is at the heart of the Green CATs agenda. What is the evidence about wind turbines? Are they the answer to the energy crisis? Most people assume they are, based on wanting to be ‘Green’. Having had to do our homework Green CATs thinks they aren’t. We want to ensure the public has all the information needed to come to an opinion.
Therefore on Friday 29th June at the Millennium Centre, Pensilva, there will be an exhibition, 2-6pm, followed by a public meeting, 6.30-8pm. The Realistic Energy Forum South West is assisting us in this event, and their chairman will be our main speaker. We want as many people as possible to come along and make their own minds up.
Green CATs are convinced industrial wind turbines are not as green as they are made out to be. We are also convinced that the public, given the information, are not as green as the wind power companies think they are.
