Controversial wind farm proposed for Martinsburg

Blinking lights, noise, horrible eye sores and just not enough benefits for those who will have to live with them.
Those were just a few of the concerns residents brought to the Town of Martinsburg meeting on a proposed 4,100 acre Roaring Brook Wind Farm.
“We have people giving up their total quality of life,” said Anne Britton, who opposes the wind farm.
Some residents are saying that the financial benefits of a wind farm do not outweigh the costs on tax payers in the community.
“Green power at what cost? To ruin someone’s back yard?” Asked Ernie Csizsmar.
The residents of Martinsburg have been here before.
A part of the Maple Ridge Wind Farm extends into the Town of Martinsburg.
That project has 195 turbines.
However, the idea of adding more turbines to the area didn’t bother everyone.
“We already have a 200 turbine project, I think this project fits in nice with it,” said Carl D. Morrison.
The project is in the early stages of development, but those opposed to it say they will continue to fight against a project they say is ruining the town.
