Last chance to have your say

A group protesting against plans to build a windfarm near Littleborough is urging the public to make their voices heard.

The deadline for those wishing to object to Coronation Power’s plans to build a dozen 125m high turbines at Crook Hill is 21 March.

And the Friends of the South Pennines hope as many people as possible will take the chance to make their feelings known.

George Kelsall, of the group, said: “This the last chance the public will get to have a say on the plans.

“We are urging anyone who objects to the idea of building 12 turbines on our moors to write into the appeal.

“Just imagine the size of lorries needed to take the parts up to Crook Hill.

“They will have to travel past schools and along residential B roads, which are already extremely busy.

“It will be an absolute nightmare.”

Later this month Rochdale councillors are expected to vote on the proposals, although the final decision will be made at a public inquiry overseen by a government inspector.

# Anyone wishing to lodge an objection can write to the Planning Inspectorate, 3/18a Temple Quay House, 2 The Square, Temple Quay, Bristol, BS1 6PN quoting the reference APP/P4225/A/08/2065227/NWF. Submissions should be printed in 11 point Arial font.
