Greens are in league with wind profiteers

To prove his point, albeit in a somewhat obscure way, Theo Hopkins (“Global warming denial is familiar”) informs us that Friends of the Earth had to “take on” the nasty fuel industries to get lead removed from petrol. Small wonder that it took some 15 years.

As he admits to once being a member of FoE he will be well aware of the track record of the fuel industries and multinational corporations here and in third world countries, in particular their disgraceful record relating to the environment.

Does he not understand that the same FoE he admires so much is now in bed with the same fuel industries, power corporations and big business (that he himself is so critical of) in their cold-blooded pursuit of making a profit out of ruining our environment and covering the planet with wind turbines?

He says a previous letter by Allen Jeffrey is “wrong, wrong, wrong…” Can Theo not understand why so many of us former FoE and Green Party members feel betrayed, betrayed, betrayed that these so-called green groups are now lined up with the fuel industries and multinationals against their own communities?

Does anyone really believe our environment is safe, safe, safe in the hands of the fuel industry, power companies and big business? Does anyone actually trust, trust, trust FoE or the Green Party any more?

I believe the answer is a resounding No! No! No! – as proved in the recent elections when the Green Party put up 20 candidates; came bottom of the poll as usual and did not manage to win a single seat on North Devon District Council despite all the hype about global warming and everyone telling us to vote green.

Yet, as predicted, in letters published in the press from these same candidates, they have interpreted such a humiliating defeat as a victory.

They have understood that by not getting one single candidate elected actually means that the “overwhelming majority of people in North Devon support wind turbines”!

I’d sooner vote for the Monster Raving Loony Party.
