Assessing wind power

The town is taking an initial step toward locating a wind turbine in Norwell. With recent approval of the Board of Selectmen, the Wind Power Committee plans to submit an application with the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative to have the agency assess six potential sites for wind-powered turbines. The free assessment is designed to determine whether any of the sites are promising enough to merit further analysis, according to committee chairwoman Tricia Lederer. The six sites are the high school, the middle school, the Vinal Elementary School, the Water Department properties on South Street and Washington Street, and Stetson Meadows. – John Laidler
