Byron official’s remarks an insult

In a recent story on the Byron Industrial Slum (wind turbine project) that appeared on Channel 6 in Milwaukee, Francis Ferguson, town chairman for Byron, was quoted as stating, “The complainers are implants and are not old standby people.”
At a recent town board meeting, he admitted to making that comment. As one of the leading “complainers” the past four years, I am offended by Mr. Ferguson’s slanderous comments and his insults. I personally was born and raised in the town of Byron, as were three generations of my family before me. Does that make me an “implant?” (I think Ferguson meant to say “transplant.”)
I consider myself and the other “complainers” to be “old standby people.” We are all educated professionals who contribute to the local economy, are socially responsible, maintain our properties, support our local schools and churches, and pay megabucks in property taxes. We are all good Americans, and the Bill of Rights guarantees us the right to free speech.
Mr. Ferguson has not only embarrassed himself but the entire town of Byron. His comments are offensive to everybody who was not born here and even to those of us who were. He is up for re-election next year. If I were him, I’d start getting a little nervous about that.
