Misled about ‘benefits’ of wind power

The British Wind Energy Association has been bragging about the benefits of wind power for years and has spent millions of pounds “green washing” the public, even resorting to infiltrating the school system with their propaganda.
They currently claim to have over 2,000 turbines in the UK with an installed capacity of 2,500 megawatts.
Where was all this megawattage when it was needed on Tuesday last week when Sizewell B and Longanet power stations both tripped off-line, causing the lights to go out in 500,000 homes?
The answer is simple – all 2,000 turbines were completely impotent and unable to help; in fact, their intermittency would have made the situation worse had the grid operators tried to feed in their spurious outputs.
Coincidentally, despite all this wind power, the latest DEFRA figure for extra CO2 saving in 2007 shows no contribution from wind.
As I have reported previously, the wind industry received almost £320 million during 2007 in subsidies, from us, the consumers.
Here is the proof, if proof were needed, that we are being lied to and misled about the so-called benefits of wind power, and shows that there is a desperate need for an immediate moratorium on wind farm construction, with a public inquiry set up as soon as possible. – Yours etc,
