Wind farm project begins

Enbridge isn’t waiting on the Ontario Municipal Board to begin their wind project.
Kincardine Council last night granted site plan agreements to six by-laws not under appeal and the holding provisions attached were removed.
Those turbines will be located next the hydro transmission lines near Underwood
The approvals were granted after Enbridge supplied the Municipality with an emergency services plan, a stage two archaeological study approved by the Ministry of Culture, a decommission plan, and an Environmental Screening “Statement of Completion.”
Enbridge General Manager Bob Simpson says with the site plan approval, they will be starting construction on the project either late summer or early fall.
However, Simpson says they will only lay the foundation and there will be no turbines put up this year.
With the OMB currently going through 38 by-laws under appeal, Simpson admits it is quite risky to start thinking of laying the ground work but says he is confident that their actions would not affect the outcome and vice versa.
He says they will get their certificate of approval once the Province goes through their noise study and have already established a safety protocol.
Simpson says there are a large number of site plans that still need to be analyzed by the Bruce County Planning Department and require Council’s approval so it made sense to go through some of them at this time.
