Communities “confused and anxious” over wind farm plans

People living near the site of a proposed wind farm at Temple Hill near Grantham say they have been left “confused and anxious”.

Opposition group reVOLT claims residents in villages closest to the affected area have not been sent notices about information sessions next week.

However, it is claimed people living further away have received booklets with details of the plans and the meetings.

RWE npower renewables is proposing to erect five 126.5m wind turbines at Temple Hill, close to Brandon.

According to reVOLT, the leaflet were distributed to Long Bennington – even though the village was not on the map printed inside.

Councillor Paul Wood, a member of South Kesteven District Councillor and a resident of the town, said the booklet came “out of the blue”.

Paul Miley, spokesman for reVOLT, said people felt they did not have much time to arrange to attend the sessions or prepare for them.

“RWE npower has maintained that it will consult with the community,” he said.

“However, to find out that the village halls were booked at the beginning of August through an anonymous PR company, and the fact that villagers adjacent to the site haven’t been given sufficient notice to attend, is very poor.”

The first meeting will take place at Caythorpe Village Hall on Tuesday, September 10 from 4pm to 8pm.

The next will be at Dry Doddington Village Hall on Wednesday, September 11 from 1pm to 5pm.

And the final session will be at Stubton Village Hall on Thursday, September 12 from 4pm to 8pm.
