Minister of Oil and Energy Ola Borten Moe has given permission to build up to 450 wind turbines in Trondheim Fjord. The project is estimated at NOK 20 million, and it will produce 3.7 billion kilowatt hours a year.
The energy from the wind farms is enough to supply 180.000 households with electricity.
– This is three times the energy usage of Trondheim city and will solve Center-Norway’s energy problem in the foreseeable future, – said Ola Borten Moe.
Norway’s largest wind farm on Smøla islands north of Kristianssund consists of 68 windmills.
