NEW HARTFORD – Public hearings for two new local laws pertaining to wind energy and flood damage prevention will occur at the 7 p.m. Town Board meeting Wednesday at Butler Hall.
The wind energy facility law dictates where wind turbines can be constructed on a land owner’s property, with regulations on a potential structure’s height, proximity to property lines, and safety concerns, among other details.
The other law pertains to preventing future damage to public and private properties and permits that will need to be obtained before erect a new structure. The Federal Emergency Management Agency will update its Flood Insurance Rate Map of the area after a law is passed. It will supersede all previous laws held by the town for the same purpose.
Complete versions of the local laws can be found on the town’s website: newhartfordtown.com.
