Turbine transportation route angers council

The Mid-Western Regional Council says if a windfarm developer is allowed to truck turbine parts through local towns, there would be lengthy traffic delays for six months.
General Manager Warwick Bennett says Wind Prospect CWP has altered the route it plans to bring in equipment for the 106 turbine Crudine Ridge windfarm between Mudgee and Bathurst.
The council wants the new route re-advertised as it has moved from a southern approach through Bathurst to a northern one, using the Ulan Road.
Mr Bennett says the proposed loads are 75 metres long.
“Ten of them per day, for six months, through the townships of Gulgong and Mudgee,” he said.
“It is at best bizarre, going to be extremely dangerous, and in effect, it is going to hold up traffic in the township of Mudgee for probably as much as four to five hours per day, for six months.”
The Mid-Western Regional Council has accused the developers of a windfarm at Pyramul of not being truthful to residents about council’s stance on parts of the proposed project
“The proponents of Crudine Ridge windfarm have told the residents of Pyramul that bringing the loads through the Mudgee township is council’s preferred option,” he said.
“It never has been, never will be.
“Those comments are factually incorrect and they need to correct them.”
