Protest group says 'no' to wind farm near Napton

An energy firm which recently became the third to announce plans for a wind farm near Leamington now faces opposition from a dedicated campaign group.
TCI Renewables wants to set up six turbines on land on the Shuckburgh Estate near Napton, and has submitted a ‘scoping report’ to Stratford District Council setting out its vision.
But with only three days to go before the council stops accepting comments on the report, residents in nearby Lower Catesby decided something must be done fast to draw attention to the firm’s plans.
Among them is Martyn Amsel, who helped to set up the Shuckburgh Wind farm Action Group, which held its first meeting on Monday night. He said: “I want people to write to the district council with their views. People need to know what’s going on. A wind farm would be a real blight on the landscape.”
Chairman of the village’s parish meeting Darren Jackson said: “Lower Catesby is likely to be the worst affected settlement with turbines standing on ground higher than the village.
“TCI Renewables has offered the community £37,500 per year for the 25 years of the operation of the wind farm – but this is little compensation for the dramatic impact.”
