Villagers form action group to fight six-turbine windfarm plan on Shuckburgh Estate

An action group has been formed to fight a proposed wind farm development.
TCI Renewables (TCIR) has announced its plans for land at the Shuckburgh Estate, south of Lower Shuckburgh. If given the go ahead the proposal would see six turbines built at a height of up to 130m.
TCIR has now applied for permission to build a temporary wind monitoring mast, and that has outraged people in Hellidon, Priors Marston, Catesby and Shuckburgh.
An action group was formed on June 16 and campaigner Martyn Amsel said: “Lots of people have raised serious concerns over the visual impact on the landscape.
“There are concerns also about the noise in this tranquil setting and impacts on wildlife and ecology, not only from the turbines but from construction.”
Project manager Danny Maher said: “We are mindful that a development will give rise to a number of concerns from nearby communities.
“From the feedback received at an exhibition we held (on June 8 in Priors Marston) we believe the large majority of attendees found it useful and informative.
“We intend to remain fully engaged with the community and anticipate addressing many of the concerns raised.”
