Horizon’s corporate dollars, so far about $500,000, have been spent locally to drain off millions more of your tax dollars in state and federal tax subsidies, tax credits and green credits.

Private donations fund Friends of the Grande Ronde Valley’s 19-month continuing battle against Horizon’s proposed Antelope Ridge Wind Farm (ARWF).

With these private funds FGRV has participated around the valley and Northeast Oregon with its float replicating Craig Mountain and the Oregon Trail if contaminated with blinking wind turbines; hosted “Presenting the Truth about Wind;” protested along Adams and Island avenues; written and produced informative radio and print ads; placed electronic, hand-painted, and purchased signs pleading “NO SIP,” “No Wind Towers” and “Take the challenge – Conserve 3%” across the valley; FGRV members have handed out “facts about wind power” in your neighborhoods, distributed business cards, sported “blinking turbine” buttons, brandished “no turbine” balloons; and raised funds through yard sales (next one in August in Union).

FGRV (privately funded and manned by energetic and dedicated volunteers) has also flooded the Oregon Department of Energy and the Energy Facility Siting Council with documentation proving the incompleteness and inappropriate siting of the proposed ARWF; attended government meetings throughout the state to monitor other wind projects to fully understand the process; attended state committees that evaluate health problems related to the environment; contacted and written letters to state and federal legislators and officials, news editors throughout Oregon, affiliate organizations, official committees and conservation groups; and maintained a website FGRV.org that continues to present the truth about wind power.

What’s next? “Presenting the Naked Truth about Wind Power” and FGRV’s next campaign, “Be Prepared.” We’ll show you how you can be compensated for damages you suffer should the worst happen and ARWF is built.
