An application for a three turbine wind energy scheme near Beckingham has been withdrawn by the company proposing it.

North Kesteven District Council’s corporate director Karen Bradford said: “The district council received confirmation from Wind Direct Ltd that they wished to withdraw application 11/0238/FUL for the construction and operation of a three turbine wind energy scheme at Lodge Farm, Beckingham. As such, no further action will be taken on the application.

“The application has been the subject of extensive levels of interest from local residents and a number of other interested third parties, including statutory consultees and consultants appointed by the district council, who had raised concerns on the grounds of landscape and visual impact, residential amenity, adverse impacts on the settings of nearby Grade I Listed churches and noise.

“The application was due to be determined at a planning committee on June 14.

“That meeting was cancelled and residents will be formally notified very shortly.”

Any further information on the application can be found on the council’s planning on-line service, available at www.n-kesteven.gov.uk/planningonline using the planning reference number 11/0238/ FUL
