Udslidte vindmøller er umulige at genbruge og skaber et gevaldigt affaldsproblem i de kommende år.
Et bjerg af skrottede vindmøllevinger tårner sig op i horisonten, og det udgør et enormt problem for miljøet, skriver Børsen fredag.
De tonstunge vindmøllevinger af glasfiber kan nemlig ikke genbruges, lyder det, men kun afbrændes eller smides på lossepladsen.
– Når en vindmølle er i drift, producerer den grøn energi. Men når den er slidt op, så udgør den pludselig et problem, siger seniorudviklingsingeniør Tom Løgstrup Andersen fra Risø-DTU.
– Der findes i dag ikke nogen konkret løsning på at genanvende vinger fra vindmøller, tilføjer han.
Miljøproblemet vokser i takt med, at vindmøller bliver en stadig mere central del af energiforsyningen, siger han.
Vindmøller har en levetid på tyve år i gennemsnit, og de næste ni år står 4500 pensionsmodne vindmøller til at blive fjernet fra dansk jord.
Det svarer til 13500 skrottede vindmøllevinger.
– Jeg tror ikke, der har været det nødvendige fokus på dette. Men i dag begynder vindmøller at blive en central del af elproduktionen, og så bliver vindmøller et stort affaldsproblem, siger Tom Løgstrup Andersen.
Miljøminister Karen Ellemann (V) erkender, at vi står med et problem.
– Jeg anerkender, at der her er tale om en affaldshåndtering, som vi skal have afklaret, siger hun.
– Vi skal have den mest miljørigtige måde at nedtage vindmøllerne på. Men der findes ikke dokumentation for, hvad der er den mest miljørigtige måde at håndtere dem på, tilføjer miljøministeren.
Hun har afsat seks millioner kroner til at finde den bedste løsning, skriver Børsen.

A mountain of scrap blades is towering on the horizon, and this poses a huge problem for the environment, wrote Børsen Friday.
The turbine blades’ tons of glass fiber can not be reused, it said, but only burned or dumped in landfills.
– When a turbine is operating, it produces green energy. But when it is worn, it is it suddenly a problem, said senior development engineer Tom Løgstrup Andersen from Risø-DTU.
– There is currently no concrete solution to reusing blades from wind turbines, he added.
Environmental problems are growing as the wind becomes an increasingly central part of the supply, he says.
Wind turbines have a lifespan of twenty years, on average, and the next nine years, 4500 retired wind turbines are to be removed from Danish soil.
This corresponds to 13500 scrapped rotor blades.
– I do not think there has been a necessary focus on this. But as wind turbines start to be a central part of electricity generation, then they start to be a large waste problem, said Tom Løgstrup Andersen.
Environment Minister Karen Ellemann (V) recognizes that we are faced with a problem.
– I recognize that this is waste handling that we should have clarified, she said.
– We must have the most environmentally correct way to dismantle wind turbines. But there is no evidence for what is the most environmentally correct way to handle them, added the Minister.
She has allocated six million kroner to find the best solution, Børsen writes.
