Rushey Mead appeal decision is up in the air

Credit:  www.getwokingham.co.uk 24 May 2011 ~~

Bosses behind a failed application to build a wind farm on land between Arborfield, Lower Earley and Shinfield have yet to decide if they are to appeal the decision.

Partnerships for Renewables (PfR) last month had plans proposing the installation of four turbines on land at Rushy Mead unanimously thrown out by the planning committee at Wokingham Borough Council.

The application, discussed at a meeting of the committee on Wednesday, April 27, was refused because it was felt the turbines would have a significant effect on the local landscape and the harm it could have on two adjacent buildings.

After the decision, Stephen Ainger, chief executive of PfR, said his team would assess the situation and decide what future steps to take.

A spokesman for the company has since said the project team are still deliberating what action it should take next.

He said: “The team is still deciding what to do and no decision has yet been made.”
