PROSPECT – It’s now a waiting game to see how the Connecticut Siting Council will cast its final vote on a proposed wind turbine project in town.

Members of the Siting Council are expected to make a final vote Thursday on a proposal by BNE Energy Inc. of West Hartford to install two 1.6-megawatt wind turbines on a 67.5-acre parcel at 178 New Haven Road. The deadline for a decision is May 16.

The record on the project has closed, and no parties involved the petition, either BNE or those granted party/intervenor status, can legally approach the Siting Council or submit material, said Linda Roberts, the council’s executive director. Any conversation with members would be considered ex-parte communication, which is forbidden, she said.

All that is left is to sit and wait. But based on last week’s straw vote by the council, there is some indication it may be denied, flying against the council’s 97 percent approval rate for projects.
