Wind farm back on horizon

A controversial wind farm is back on the horizon.
Central Beds Council turned down the planning application for ten wind turbines on land near Langford and Biggleswade in January on the grounds of excessive noise and visual impact.
Now The Co-operative Group, which hopes to build the renewable energy source, has appealed to the Secretary of State.
The issue has been hotly debated since the proposal to build on land north of Edworth Road was first raised back in 2008.
Many residents of Langford are strong objectors – but several councillors and other campaigners are strongly in favour of the wind farm.
Rob Ellis, sustainable development manager for The Co-operative Group, said: “We maintain that our proposal to build a ten-turbine wind farm is a good scheme and will provide a valuable contribution to local energy generation.”
The group is adamant that the wind farm would not have any unacceptable effect on the community.
But Langford Parish Council is determined to continue its campaign to stop the proposal.
