 PRESS RELEASE

Following a successful public meeting on 21st March against the proposed South Dale Wind Farm development, concerned residents from across the area have formed the ‘No to Wolds Wind Farm Group’. The group will be chaired by the Vice Chairman of Hunmanby Parish Council, Cllr. Michelle Donohue-Moncrieff. Cllr. Donohue-Moncrieff said, “By opposing this wind farm, we are not only fighting for our beautiful Wolds countryside but to give local people a real voice on planning matters”.

The group is writing to the Borough Council election candidates to ascertain their position on the proposed Wind Farm. Cllr. Donohue-Moncrieff said, “I accept that this will be a long battle as we are up against many vested interests. With the Borough Council elections in May, it is vitally important that voters are certain that councillors will stand up for us, David against the Wind Farm Goliath.”

The group are calling on residents of Hunmanby, Burton Fleming and surrounding villages to attend the Planning Committee Meeting at Scarborough Town Hall, 28th April 2011 at 1pm, to discuss the test mast planning application. The proposed test mast is scheduled to be erected in July/August with the full planning application being submitted in Autumn. Cllr. Donohue-Moncrieff said, “This mast is supposed to be used to collect wind data on the South Dale site, however the current planning timescale suggested by Banks Renewables indicates that this mast is no more than a box ticking exercise in order to move as quickly as possible to the full planning application”.
