Gwytherin residents still against Llys Dymper wind farm

Residents living in fear of a planned wind farm on Denbigh Moor say they are still against proposals by Windpower Wales.

The Llys Dymper site, if given the go-ahead by Conwy planners, will house up to fourteen 126m high wind turbines.

Having lived in the village of Gwytherin for over 28 years, Gillian Derbyshire said wind farms are not effective: “We live in a beautiful area which will be spoilt if these wind turbines are given the green light.

“We don’t want them here, we don’t need them here and we won’t get any benefit directly from them.”

Another Gwytherin resident of 10 years, Jan Smith, said: “Everyone here is against the wind farm.

“It will devalue our houses and should not be located near populated villages.”

Farmer Glyn Williams added: “Generations of families live here but people won’t want to with a wind farm on their doorstep. We are a small community and this is splitting us apart.”

Another concerned resident, Nyrs Jones, said: “These turbines don’t produce enough energy to be cost effective, they are just a scam. They benefit Windpower Wales’ 27 shareholders but what about the hundreds of us having to live with these monstrosities?”

Owner of the Red Lion pub Tim Hughes added: “Everyone I know is writing letters of objection.”

Residents have set up a Facebook group against the wind farm called “Gwytherin Against Llys Dymper Windfarm/ yn erbyn fferm wynt llys dymper”.
