TOWNSHIP 16 – The Maine Land Use Regulation Commission (LURC) has set dates for a public hearing on the Bull Hill Wind project. LURC Project Planner Don Murphy said the hearing will be Monday and Tuesday, May 16 and 17.
There will be time for public comment on both evenings. Formal testimony will be given during the day Tuesday, Murphy said.
He said the sessions will most likely be held at the Ramada Inn in Ellsworth.
Blue Sky East, a subsidiary of Boston-based wind developer First Wind, filed a permit application in January for a 34-megawatt wind farm on Bull Hill and Heifer Hill in Township 16. The proposal calls for the construction of nineteen 476-foot turbines.
The company also has indicated interest in expanding the project into neighboring Eastbrook.
The permit application is available online at www.maine.gov/doc/lurc. Paper copies are available at the LURC Downeast Regional Office, 106 Hogan Road, Suite 7, Bangor, at the Hancock County Commissioners Office, 50 State St., Suite 7, Ellsworth and at the Eastbrook municipal office, 959 Eastbrook Road, Eastbrook.
