Oldbury wind farm refused permission

A planning application for four 127-metre high wind turbines on land near Oldbury has been thrown out by planning bosses.

Members of South Gloucestershire Council’s development control committee voted against the wind farm proposals at a meeting yesterday Thursday, March 17.

Green energy firm Wind Prospect had hoped the application for the Stoneyard Lane wind farm would be approved after it received the backing of the local authority’s planning officers.

However, councillors decided the turbines were of such a scale and height they would have a significant harmful impact on the landscape.

Speaking after the meeting campaigners said they were pleased with the decision.

Thomas Jenner-Fust, chairman of Hill parish meeting, said: “I’m delighted. I think that the planning committee have accepted that people who live in this area will have their lives blighted.”
