Three plans delayed

A decisive council meeting on three wind farm schemes in Northumberland has been called off by planners.

Berwick Borough Council said the bid for 10 turbines at Moorsyde, Allerdean, would not be decided on May 29, because of delayed reports.

One is the council’s commission, from Scott Wilson, on the impact of multiple wind farms on the area and the second is the long-awaited Arup report on the same subject.

It also means plans for 10 turbines at Wandylaw, on the boundary with Alnwick district, and nine at Barmoor, near Lowick, will be postponed.

Last month, the council said it had enough information to deal with all three plans at one meeting. That sparked an outcry from objectors.

A spokesman for Moorsyde Action Group yesterday said it would ask the new leader of the council what process was now to be followed.

Your Energy MD Richard Mardon said he was disappointed the Moorsyde plan had been delayed.
