Outraged at blind pursuit of wind energy at any cost

Credit:  Cape Cod Times, www.capecodonline.com 17 January 2011 ~~

I write to express my outrage that the commonwealth is now electing to pursue wind technology on land on Cape Cod, after already attempting to rob us of our cherished history and legacy in Nantucket Sound.

I and many others on Cape Cod feel betrayed by the developments that continue to unfold in Boston and in Washington regarding the fate of Nantucket Sound, and now with the Wind Energy Siting Reform Act, which would strip local communities of their right to make their own choices in whether to embrace wind turbines and where.

While I have always supported environmental causes and viable, sustainable and environmentally responsible alternative energy, the largely unproven – and clearly unreliable – wind technology planned for the Cape and Sound reflect a hustle, in every sense of the word, toward an economically disastrous and ecologically devastating approach.
