Say what you think about wind farm plan

Campaigners will have their last chance to speak out for or against plans for a wind farm when they go before district councillors next month.

Members of Wychavon District Council will decide at a special meeting on January 27 whether to approve or refuse planning permission fo five turbines on land east of Bishampton Bank, near Pershore.

The meeting at Pershore Civic Centre is at 2pm and the time for public speaking has been extended, allowing 30 minutes for objectors and 30 minutes for supporters.

While the usual space for members of the public will be available in the chamber, the council will install an audio feed to the adjoining committee rooms and foyer in anticipation of a large turnout.

The agenda for the committee, including the officer’s recommendation on the application, will be published on January 17 and anyone wishing to speak at the meeting needs to register their interest by midday on January 21.

The application, by ScottishPower Renewables, includes proposals for five 2.3 megawatt turbines measuring 126.5 metres to the tip, as well as hardstandings, access tracks, compounds and a permanent meterological mast.

If approved, the plans would enable ScottishPower Renewables to install and operate the wind farm for 25 years. To register for public speaking, call 01386 565426.
