Say no to SIP

The local jobs estimate from Antelope Ridge Wind Farm is grossly exaggerated.
Antelope Ridge states the following in their letter of intent to the siting commission:
1. During construction, which normally takes 10-12 months, an estimated 200 people will be employed.
3. The potential non-local hires may be as many as 150.
3. After construction is completed, there will be between eight and 15 full-time jobs.
Actual figures reported by Elkhorn Wind Farm regarding employment:
1. Construction ran from January through November of 2007.
2. There were only five months where there were over 100 employees. During two of those months, there were over 200 employees.
3. The only month with more local employees than out of the area was July 2007 when there were 55 local employees and 54 from out of the area.
4. There were only two permanent full-time employees at Elkhorn starting January 2008.
For this, taxpayers pay up front 30 percent of the total cost of the project. In addition, the wind farm is allowed to write off the entire balance of the value of the wind farm for six years. Why would anyone enter into a 15-year agreement with a business that has completely written off their investment in six years?
Its only purpose is to show that this county wants a wind farm that we do not want. Why else would Horizon have donated over $150,000 to try to influence the vote in this country and the approval of a SIP? Commissioners need to say no to the SIP.
