Wind farm noise report reveals planning breaches: Mayor

Noise testing at properties neighbouring the Waubra wind farm has revealed some breaches of the farm’s planning permit conditions.

The wind farm’s operator, Acciona Energy, commissioned the testing and the report was submitted to Planning Minister Justin Madden last month.

Shire Mayor David Clark says the report reveals noise levels are too loud at some of the 23 properties tested.

He says properties at the centre of previous noise complaints were not tested for the report.

“There’s effectively two or three key areas where there have been complaints and they’re not included in the compliance testing,” he said.

“Now those people have had tests done by Acciona but those tests have not been made publicly available and certainly we would contend as council that those people deserve to have their data made publicly available and on the public record.”
