Wind turbine public meetings to be held

BONNEVILLE COUNTY – Back on August 25th, the Bonneville County Planning and Zoning Board voted against the Meadow Creek Wind Project 4 to 2. But as expected, that decision will be appealed. Ridgeline Energy is appealing to the County Commissioners for the proposed 75 wind turbines in the Meadow Creek Wind Project.

The County Commissioners will be hearing the Meadow Creek Wind Project tomorrow, right here at the Bonneville County Courthouse.

“The County Commissioners won’t actually be making a decision tomorrow night, but they’ll hear all the evidence and establish a record and then they’ll make a decision and publish that at some point,” said Idahoans for Responsible Wind Energy Representative Peter Brockett.

Tuesday night’s hearing offers an opportunity for the public to voice their opinions and to further learn about the situation. In addition, a public hearing will be held Wednesday night with the Commissioners and Planning and Zoning Board to further discuss the wind zone possibilities.

“What were hoping they can do is establish some effective guidelines and updates to the ordinance that will actually protect agricultural neighbors, residential neighbors, the county at large,” said Brockett.

The Idahoans for Responsible Wind Energy told me, they hope that whether people are for or against the wind turbines, that they come out and voice their opinions.
