Speak to those who suffer

Common sense alone tells us that living near wind turbines would seriously damage our quality of life, that they would devalue our homes, our environment and have a detrimental effect on our health.
The turbine companies need to speak to people who have suffered and are still suffering from this blight on their lives instead of talking nonsense. In the Daily Mail (March 10) there was a double page spread account of how seven turbines had destroyed the lives of a couple living in Lincolnshire.
They reported that they had to leave home to get a decent night’s sleep, and that their £170,000 house was now essentially worthless because no-one would grant a mortgage on a house blighted by turbines.
Television’s Wales This Week presented a programme (February 2) about wind turbines in the Bridgend area and the result of the telephone voting recorded 72 per cent against the turbines and only 28 per cent for them. This was four times the response the programme has had on any issue. For Lewis, Scotland, 11,400 representations were made against having the turbines and fewer than 60 for them. These figures represent the truth, represent real people .
Government guidelines for turbines built near private houses dates back to 1996 when the turbines were much smaller and when their blades swung in a circle, one 10th the size of the 400ft giants we have today, and it has done nothing to bring this up to date. The UK Noise Association recommends no turbines to be built within one mile of any property. In France turbines cannot be built within 2,000 metres of a property, whereas in Britain the limit is only 500 metres.
It is time these companies left before they destroy our country, our lives and our lucrative tourism industry.
