Residents should attend ZBA hearing on proposed wind turbines

Credit:  GateHouse News Service, www.wickedlocal.com 19 September 2010 ~~

A proposal to situate eight industrial wind turbines on the cranberry bogs of Wareham, called Bogwind, has been progressing through the approval stages with most residents unaware of the size of the turbines. Each of these turbines will be nearly two-thirds the height of the Prudential Tower in Boston and will tower over hundreds of residences in the area. Turbines of this size bring the potential for significant noise and adverse health effects for the residents of Wareham. No matter where one stands on wind energy, these massive turbines will turn Wareham into an industrial zone. The all-important Zoning Board of Appeals meeting on the turbines will be held Sept 22. It is essential that residents get to the meeting to hear what has been proposed.
