Close to 1,000 people filled the arena at the Reach Centre in Clinton last night to find out more about industrial wind farms.
They were there specifically to hear three of the province’s most prominent opponents of wind farms talks about the risks and what people can do to protect their communities.
Doctor Robert McMurtry focussed on low frequency noise. He says there are four things that should be tested.
The first is sound intensity measured in decibels.
Doctor McMurtry says not everyone gets sick from noise just as not every smoker gets cancer.
But he says tests suggest that some people are more vulnerable than others.
And a court challenge launched by a Prince Edward County man could put a stop to industrial wind farm developments in the province.
Ian Hanna was one of the other guest speakers in Clinton last night.
Hanna says they’re asking the courts to review four sections of the Green Energy Act relating to the distance wind turbines have to be setback from homes.
Hanna says the MOE has admitted it doesn’t know how to test for a safe distance which he says means they haven’t done it.
He maintains they should not be proceeding with construction of wind turbines until they have tested for a safe distance and identified risks.
