Professor to talk on wind farm impacts

A guest speaker will join residents fighting plans for wind turbines near Arborfield and Lower Earley at a public meeting this month.
Professor Michael Jefferson will be keynote speaker at the meeting titled ‘A Cool Look at Wind’s Pretentions’ at Bearwood College theatre in Sindlesham.
The meeting has been organised by Householders Against Rushy Mead (HARM) and will ask questions such as ‘is Rushy Mead sited badly?’ and ‘will the cost to the countryside outweigh the green benefits?’.
Professor Jefferson has experience of global business and has written books on energy, economics and the environment.
Partnerships for Renewables has teamed up with the University of Reading to produce plans for four wind turbines at Rushy Mead, which is between Arborfield and Lower Earley.
Residents are concerned about the visual and noise impact the turbines could cause.
