Wind turbines: 'you don't want them!'

I read the letter to the editor concerning wind turbines.

We have owned land in Cameron County for the past 14 years, and have been coming there for the past 31 years. I would like to let you know from experience: you don’t want wind turbines on the mountains there!

We live with them every day in Somerset County. There is an industrial wind facility being built behind our home here. The nearest turbine will be 1,300 feet from our back door with 17 more to be built on both sides of this ridge line.

If you want facts about industrial wind facilities, go to the Internet: saveour alleghenyridges.com. Read the links from Folomont Property Owners and Stop Lookout Wind Power. There are videos there from the Meyersdale wind plant that show you what they are like to live with.

Most of the information you read on the Internet is true about these 400-foot monsters. We have been told by many politicians that if it were not for subsidies we would not be having this fight. Wind turbines cannot and never will replace any coal-fired generators.

Don’t let these wind power companies ruin the beautiful mountains of northcentral Pennsylvania. We are selling our home in Berlin, Somerset County, because of the turbines.

If we ever have to look at them in Cameron County, we will be selling our property there also.
